ELEMENTS IN DRUMMING
|
If you're looking for a drum instructor in the Missoula area, I'm here for you. My teaching style emphasizes three important elements of drumming.
GROOVEGroove can be described as the sense of propulsive rhythmic "feel" moved by a musician or band. Drums are the dominant force that moves people in most genres of music. Without groove, music won't move people.

FEELFeel and groove work together. Anywhere groove goes, feel is right there with it. If the music has no feel, it lacks emotion. Think of a well written song – the lyrics have meaning behind them that resonate in a personal way. Now, when you apply that to drumming, it's the same thing. We communicate something powerful behind the drums that connects music to emotion.

MUSICALITYMusicality is being sensitive to the knowledge and talent we posses. Too often musicians grab their instrument and play without any direction or purpose, limiting their horizons. No matter your skill level, musicality is key to improving as a Musician.
